Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) has set up safe transport measures for regional commuters at the Kurinchankerny Bridge yesterday (25).

The regional community will be facilitated along with the newly setup safe transportation until the construction of the Kurinchankerny Bridge is completed, the SLN said.

Accordingly, a Navy-deployed Lagoon Craft which is capable of carrying 25 passengers safely at a time, is now functioning under the supervision of the Eastern Naval Command.

The SLN said a temporary jetty has been constructed to facilitate the passengers boarding the vessel.

According to the SLN sources, the craft is available daily from 7.00 a.m. to 8.00 a.m. and 12.00 noon to 2.00 p.m.

These measures were taken following the directives of the Navy Chief Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne, the SLN added.
