Lifesaving training for Jaffna youth

A group of youth in Jaffna was provided with a lifesaving course by the Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) recently. According to SLN media, a batch of 16 youngsters had attended the programme held at the Navy camp “SLNS Elara” in Karainaga, Jaffna.

The Navy’s Northern Naval Command conducted the Life Bronze Medallion Course 2021/01 and 2021/02 as a part of the Naval Social Responsibility initiative.

The participants who underwent the three-week long lifesaving training received certificates after successfully completing the course at a ceremony graced by the Governor of the Northern Province, Hon. Jeevan Theagarajah and Commander Northern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Priyantha Perera on 05th December, it says.

The Navy in association with Sri Lanka Life Saving and in partnership with Northwind Projects conducted the lifesaving course with the assistance of Navy’s Rapid Response Rescue & Relief Unit (4RU), it further says.

The certificate awarding ceremony was held in conforming to COVID-19 health protocols.
