Procession carrying relics and Deegawapiya Stupa Crest Gem begins on March 2

The depositing of omniscient relics at Deegawapiya Stupa will be held at the Deegawapiya Raja Maha Vihara premises under the patronage of Defence Secretary and Chairperson of 'Archaeological Heritage Management Presidential Task Force' (PTF) for Eastern Province, Gen. Kamal Gunaratne, on March 6.
 
Accordingly, a series of religious proceedings has been organized from March 02 to 06 in view of the religious procession that will be carrying the omniscient sacred relics and the Crest Gem which is scheduled to be reached at the Deegawapiya Stupa premises in order to coincide with the 4th death anniversary of Colombo Sri Sambodhi Vihara former Chief Incumbent late Ven. Daranagama Kusaladhamma Thero.

The procession carrying the sacred relics and Crest Gem will commence its journey from Colombo Sri Sambodhi Viharaya on March 02 and will reach the day’s destination, Temple of the Tooth in Kandy, via Pasyala Muruthawela Dhammachakkarama Temple.

The procession on the following day (March 03), is scheduled to reach Mahiyanganaya Rajamaha Viharaya for the night stay via Teldeniya Rambukwella Purana Rajamaha Viharaya.

The procession is scheduled to reach Aranthalawa Bhikku Training Centre on the following day (March 04) and will reach the destination in the evening session.

Special Pooja for the revered articles and relics and dhamma sermons will be held at the Deegawapiya premises until the morning of March 06 and sacred relics will be deposited in the nave of the Stupa at 09.30 a.m. amidst the blessings of Venerable Maha Sangha.
