Defence Secretary inspects security arrangements at Parliament
May 17, 2022The Secretary Defence Gen. kamal Gunaratne made a visit to the Parliament complex at Sri Jayawardanepura, Kotte yesterday (16 May) to inspect the security arrangement in place there.
The Defence Secretary inspected the present security arrangements of the Parliament complex and its surroundings in order to ensure the security of the Parliament, honourable members and the staff especially during Parliament sittings.
Secretary Defence made the visit after the Speaker of the Parliament, Hon. Mahinda Yapa Abeyawardane had written to the Secretaries to the Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Public Security recently regarding the strengthening of security to the Parliament and MPs.
Security has been tightened to the Parliament in the aftermath of the recent violence in the country.
