Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) has deployed flood relief teams to assist the exam candidates affected by floods in Kalawana area today (25).
Further, the SLN said their additional relief teams are also kept on standby to reach flood prone areas.
The SLN extended flood relief measures to students sitting for the G.C.E. Ordinary Level (O/L) Examination in the Puttalam District yesterday (24), as they were affected by inclement weather, the SLN sources said.
Following the directives of Navy Commander Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne, the North-western Naval Command extended the relief measures to exam centres in Puttalam.
Accordingly, the O/L exam candidates were given a safe passage to respective exam centres and back home, the SLN also said.
Responding to a request made by the Disaster Management Centre, the Navy has dispatched relief teams to Kalawana Delgoda Viharaya in Ratnapura last evening with the intention of facilitating students, they added.
