SL Army shines at the National Age Group Swimming Championship
June 13, 2022Sri Lanka Army (SLA) swimmers competing at the 46th National Age Group Swimming Championship - 2022 have secured a haul of medals while one swimmer set a new national record.
According to SLA media sources, competitions were held from 8th to 11th (June) at the Sugathadasa Stadium Swimming Pool in Colombo.
Army swimmer 2nd Lieutenant H.D.A Peiris of Gajaba Regiment set a National Record in 50m Backstroke clocking 26.24 seconds.
Private R.G.A Karunanayaka of 2 (V) Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineers won the Men's Open Best Swimmer title with 5 gold and 2 silver medals, it says.
The Army medals tally includes 16 gold, 13 silver and 11 bronze medals in the men’s category while Army woman swimmers won 01 gold, 04 silver and 01 bronze medals.
