Another batch of sea turtle hatchlings were set free to their natural habitat by the Sri Lanka Coast Guard recently. According to SL Coast Guard sources, 206 turtle hatchlings that came out of a nest of 237 turtle eggs protected under the Coast Guard Turtle Conservation Project (CGTCP) were thus released to begin a new life out at sea.

The SL Coast Guard’s pioneer project has seen 9574 turtle hatchlings being released to sea during this year alone. Presently 6293 turtle eggs are being conserved at hatcheries and nests close to Coast Guard lifesaving stations and establishments around the country.
