Army Commander Lt. Gen. Vikum Liyanage paid a courtesy call on the Acting Defence Minister Hon. Premitha Bandara Tennakoon at the State Ministry of Defence situated at the Disaster Management Centre (DMC) premises in Colombo today (Sep 29).
Following a warm welcome to the visiting Army Commander, Acting Defence Minister Tennakoon had a cordial discussion with him at his office this afternoon. Dialogue on areas of mutual interest was also included the in the meeting.
Lt. Gen. Liyanage also extended his warm wishes to the Minister for assuming office as the State Minister of Defence, recently.
State Minister Tennakoon was appointed as the Acting Minister of Defence for the period of the official overseas visit by Hon. President Ranil Wickremesinghe.
Memento was presented to the State Minister by the visiting Army Chief as a token of appreciation and to mark his visit.
Navy, Air Force and Sri Lanka Coastguard Chiefs met the Minister Tennakoon yesterday.
