Army initiative provides much needed scanners to 'Apeksha Hospital'

The Sri Lanka Army has donated two (02) Samsung HS40 Ultrasound Scanner Units to the 'Apeksha' Cancer Hospital in Maharagama, on Monday (17 June). According to Army media, these modern scanners has been a much needed medical equipment to the country's main hospital dedicated to treat cancer patients.

The scanners, purchased with funds collected from the voluntary donation of a day's pay of every Army personnel was handed over to the cancer hospital by the Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake during a brief ceremony, yesterday.

During the 'Parama Weera Vibhushanaya' (PWV) medal awarding ceremony last month (22 May), the Army Commander officially presented a cheque to President Maithripala Sirisena towards the purchase of the scanners.

These scanners will give new hope to hundreds of patients that come to the country's only hospital dedicated to treat cancer patients.
