The Sri Lanka Army troops removed an earth mound that obstructed the public and vehicle movement on the Nallathanniya - Maskeliya main road following the recent torrential rains and facilitated the resumption of traffic movements.

Memory of Lt General Denzil Kobbekaduwa & accompanying war heroes refreshed

30 years have passed since the legendary War Hero of contemporary times, Lieutenant General Denzil Kobbekaduwa laid his precious life on that fateful day ( 8 August 1992) at Araly point in the Jaffna peninsula, along with accompanying nine-member team, Major General Wijaya Wimalarathne, Rear Admiral Mohan Jayamaha, Lieutenant Colonel H.R Stephen, Lieutenant Colonel G.H Ariyarathne, Lieutenant Colonel Y.N Palipana, Commander Asanga Lankathilaka, Lieutenant Colonel Nalin de Alwis, Lieutenant Commander C.B. Wijepura and the soldier, Private W.J Wickremasinghe.

The passenger bus caught in a bomb blast 16 year ago, today

Sixteen years ago today (June 15, 2006), 64 innocent Sri Lankan civilians were killed while more than 70 civilians were injured in a bomb blast. Two concealed claymore mines targeting a state-run bus killed these innocent civilians that included 15 children.
