Another 52 residents, closely associated with COVID-19 positive patients in Ja-Ela, directed to quarantine

The Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) following intelligence sharing on those, who had close links with COVID-19 positive patients in Sudewella in Ja-Ela, had directed to quarantine as they were avoiding quarantine orders.

They have been sent to SLN- run quarantine centre in Oluvil.

Out of the 28 persons, who have been directed to quarantine centres, six have been already tested positive for COVID-19.

Since other residents, who has close links with the COVID-19 infected patients and others under quarantine, were avoiding to come out defying the orders of the health and security officials, the SLN intelligence and Police carried a special program in Ja-Ela and Makevita areas to search and direct them to quarantine.

During the program the SLN and Police teams managed to identify a total of 52 persons, 43 from Ja-Ela and 9 from Makewita, who had close contacts with the previous group.

In this group which was sent to quarantine there are 42 males, 10 females, including 3 boys and 3 girls.

They have been subjected to preliminary health check-ups before sending them to the SLN quarantine centre in Oluvil.
