T-56 used for Soysapura shooting rampage recovered

The weapon used for Soysapura, Mount Lavinia shooting incident was recovered with a suspect from Malabe by the Western Province Crime Division (Southern Range) yesterday (11).

The 40-year-old suspect, a resident of Galewela was nabbed with one T-56 firearm, two magazines   and 35 rounds of ammunition, and produced before the Mount Lavinia Magistrate Court yesterday.

The arrest was made in connection to the firing incident that took place at a restaurant in Soysapura, Mount Lavinia on May 29.

Mount Lavinia Police is conducting further investigations into the incident.
