Over 8,400 suspects arrested for drug related crimes
June 25, 2020The Police have arrested 8,461 suspects for involving in narcotics related offences including possessing and dealing with heroin, cannabis and crystal methamphetamine (ICE) during the period from June 06 to June 24.
According to the Police, over 7.3kg of heroin, 284 kg of cannabis and 835g of crystal methamphetamine (ICE) were confiscated during the raids conducted.
In addition, a cache of illegal weapons and ammunition including 3 pistols, 23 repeaters, and 21 shotguns were apprehended.
The Police said that, over 379,700 litres of illicit liquor and 7,150 suspects were arrested in separate operations conducted.
Meanwhile, 6,750 warranted suspects who had been evading law enforcement officials were also taken into custody, through operations conducted across the country. Over 12,000 more suspects were also arrested for other offences.
