Prison Int. nabs cat ‘deployed’ to carry heroin to Welikada Prison
August 02, 2020A cat sent with heroin and SIM cards to the Welikada Magazine Prison was captured by the Prions officials at the Prison’s main gate, yesterday (August 1).
Prisons Department Commissioner (Administration) and Spokesman Chandana Ekanayake said a small polythene packet stuffed with two packets weighing one and two grams of heroin, two SIM cards and a memory chip was tied around the cat’s neck.
The cat was captured following information received by the prison intelligence officers, he said.
The Borella Police and the Prison Department are conducting further investigations.
