Deputy Minister of Defence Hosts Strategic Dialogue with RCDS Delegation
May 21, 2025The Deputy Minister of Defence, Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd), presided over a high-level strategic dialogue with a delegation from the Royal College of Defence Studies (RCDS), United Kingdom (UK), at the Ministry of Defence in Sri Jayawardenepura, Kotte, today (May 21).
The RCDS delegation, currently on a study tour in Sri Lanka, visited the Ministry of Defence as part of their official itinerary. The 20-member delegation was led by Mr. Lord Simon Stevens, Lord Stevens of Birmingham and UK Maritime and Coastguard Agency, along with Air Commodore Paul O’Neil (Retd), Senior Directing Staff at RCDS. Colonel Darren Woods, Defence Attaché of the United Kingdom to Sri Lanka, also accompanied the group.
The visit of the RCDS deligation featured a productive exchange of views during an engaging discussion and a thought-provoking question-and-answer session with the Deputy Minister of Defence, Chief of National Intelligence, Commander of the Navy, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army and the Director General Air Operations of the Sri Lanka Air Force.
To mark the occasion, mementoes were exchanged at the conclusion of the discussions. The Military Liaison Officer of the Ministry of Defence was also in attendance.
