Defence Ministry Reaffirms Support for War Veterans and
War Hero Families on Public Day

May 30, 2025

The Ministry of Defence reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to the welfare of war veterans and the families of fallen heroes during its Public Day program held today (May 30) at the Ministry premises. This event followed a similar program conducted on Wednesday (May 28). Both events were held under the guidance of Defence Secretary Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd.), reflecting the Ministry's continued dedication to supporting those who have served the nation and their loved ones.

The initiative focused on addressing the needs and concerns of retired and disabled veterans as well as the families of those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. Defence Secretary Thuyacontha personally engaged with participants, directing ministry officials to promptly resolve their issues and expedite the implementation of welfare programs.

These programs are part of the Ministry’s ongoing effort to enhance the well-being and quality of life of veterans and their families, recognising their immense service and sacrifice to the nation.
