Deputy Minister of Defence, Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd), reaffirmed his unwavering dedication to the welfare of war veterans and the families of fallen heroes during the Public Day program held today (Jul 15) at the Deputy Minister’s office premises.

The initiative was thoughtfully designed to address the concerns of retired and disabled veterans, alongside the families of those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the service of the nation. Demonstrating a hands-on approach, the Deputy Minister engaged directly with participants, listening attentively to their grievances and suggestions. He instructed ministry officials to act swiftly to resolve the issues raised, underscoring the need for an empathetic and responsive welfare system.

Emphasizing the broader vision of the Ministry, Major General Jayasekara (Retd) stressed the importance of accelerating welfare programs aimed at improving the living standards of veterans and bereaved families.
