Defence Secretary attends 60th Maldives National Day in Colombo
July 23, 2025The 60th National Day of the Republic of Maldives was celebrated with grandeur and diplomatic fervor at a formal ceremony held at the Cinnamon Life - City of Dreams Hotel in Colombo yesterday (Jul 22). Defence Secretary Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd) also attended the ceremony held last evening.
His Excellency Masood Imad, Ambassador of the Maldives to Sri Lanka, officially welcomed dignitaries, diplomats, and invited guests to the occasion.
Minister of Trade, Commerce, Food Security and Cooperative Development, Hon. Wasantha Samarasinghe, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
Organized by the High Commission of the Maldives to Sri Lanka, the event marked a significant milestone in strengthening ties between the two countries.
The event not only commemorated the Maldivian National Day but also highlighted the deep-rooted diplomatic relations and shared cultural heritage between Sri Lanka and the Maldives.
Senior state officials, members of the diplomatic corps, senior tri forces officers, and representatives from various sectors attended the celebration.
