IOM Hands Over Recommendations for National Strategic Action Plan to Combat Human Trafficking (2026 - 2030) to Defence Secretary
August 06, 2025The Chief of Mission of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) for Sri Lanka and the Maldives, Ms. Kristin B. Parco, officially handed over the recommendations for the National Strategic Action Plan 2026-2030 to Monitor and Combat Human Trafficking to the Chairman of the National Anti-Human Trafficking Task Force, Defence Secretary Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd), on 05 August at the Ministry of Defence, Defence Headquarters Complex.
The meeting was attended by the Head of the Officials Committee the National Anti-Human Trafficking Task Force, Ms. Minoli P. Don, Head of the Protection Unit of IOM Sri Lanka and Members of the Internal Committee of the National Anti-Human Trafficking Task Force.
Discussions were mainly focused on strengthening national efforts to combat human trafficking, with both parties reaffirming their commitment to continued collaboration. The newly submitted recommendations are expected to guide and reinforce the country’s strategic initiatives from 2026 to 2030, aligning with both national priorities and international standards in addressing human trafficking.
