Deputy Minister of Defence and Defence Secretary Attend 80th Indonesian Independence Day Ceremony in Colombo
August 28, 2025Deputy Minister of Defence, Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd), together with the Defence Secretary, Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd), attended the 80th Indonesian Independence Day ceremony held at the Ambassador's Residence in Horton Place, Colombo 7, on Wednesday (Aug 27).
Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Sri Lanka, H.E. Dewi Gustina Tobing, received the dignitaries on their arrival at the venue last evening. Minister of Rural Development, Social Security and Community Empowerment, Hon. (Dr.) Upali Pannilage, M.P., graced the occasion as the chief guest.
The Deputy Minister and Defence Secretary extended warm felicitations to the Ambassador of Indonesia and the people of Indonesia on this significant occasion, reaffirming the strong bonds of friendship and cooperation between Sri Lanka and Indonesia.
Former Presidents, Ministers, members of the diplomatic corps, senior military officers and distinguished guests were present at the occasion.
