Poppy Flower pinned on Deputy Minister of Defence
September 19, 2025A Poppy Flower was ceremonially pinned on Deputy Minister of Defence Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd) by President of the Sri Lanka Ex-Servicemen’s Association (SLESA), Major General LM Mudalige (Retd) today (Sep 19) to mark Poppy Day.
The Poppy Day is a memorial day observed in Commonwealth countries since the end of World War I to commemorate the fallen armed forces personnel whilst on duty.
A SLESA delegation, led by Maj Gen Mudalige, visited the Deputy Minister’s office in Colombo this morning and pinned him with a poppy flower.
The Deputy Minister also engaged in a cordial discussion with the delegation during the meeting.
