Defence Secretary Attends Korean National Foundation Day

Defence Secretary Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd) graced the Korean National Foundation Day ceremony held at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel, Colombo, today (2 October).
The event, hosted annually by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Sri Lanka, is traditionally observed marking the founding of the Korean nation.
Hon. (Mrs.) Saroja Savithri Paulraj, MP the Minister of Women and Child Affairs was the Chief Guest of the event. The celebration also underscores the longstanding diplomatic ties and growing cooperation between the Republic of Korea and Sri Lanka.
Addressing the gathering H.E. Miyon Lee, the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Sri Lanka, highlighted the importance of the bilateral relationship and reaffirmed her country’s commitment to further strengthening cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
The reception brought together Speaker of parliament, Former presidents, Cabinet Ministers, Commanders of the Army and Air Force, Inspector General of Police, members of the diplomatic corps, senior tri forces officers, senior government officials, dignitaries, members of the Korean and Sri Lankan communities, and business leaders. The occasion provided an opportunity to foster cultural exchange and explore new avenues for collaboration between the two nations.
