Defence Secretary Graces KDU Convocation Dinner as Chief Guest
October 17, 2025The Defence Secretary Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd) graced the 36th General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) Convocation Dinner as the Chief Guest. The ceremony was held at the Ramadia Grand Hotel in Moratuwa last evening (16 October).
This formal event, conducted following the General Convocation, marked the conclusion of the university’s convocation series. Upon arrival, the Defence Secretary was warmly received by the Vice Chancellor of KDU, Rear Admiral Dammika Kumara.
The Chancellor of KDU, General Shantha Kottegoda (Retd), was also present on the occasion, along with the Rectors, senior academic and non academic university officials, senior tri forces officers and graduates. The evening provided an opportunity to celebrate the academic achievements of the KDU graduates and to acknowledge the university’s continued contribution to the nation.
