Sri Lanka Air Force No 3 Maritime Squadron Bestowed with President’s Colours

  • President attends SLAF Commissioning Parade Ceremony in Trincomalee 

The No 3 Maritime Squadron of the Sri Lanka Air Force was bestowed with the President’s Colour in appreciation of the yeoman service rendered to the Sri lanka Air Force and the nation. The honour was conferred by His Excellency President Anura Kumara Dissanayake during a grand Presidents' Colour Awarding and Commissioning Parade held at the SLAF Academy in ChinaBay, Trincomalee, yesterday (18 October). 

The President was received by the Air Force Commander, Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe on his arrival.

Deputy Minister of Defence Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd) and Defence Secretary Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd) were among the high profile guests present at the occasion. 

The event also marked the ceremonial Commissioning Parade for the No. 66, 67, and 68 Officer Cadet Intakes, No. 20 Lady Officer Cadet Intake, No. 38 and 39 Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) Cadet Intake. A total of 66 Officer Cadets were commissioned in the rank of Pilot Officer in the Sri Lanka Air Force, while four Flight Cadets from the No. 103 Flying Cadets Course were presented with Flying brevet. Special awards and trophies were presented to Officers who had showed excellent performance during their training. 

The SLAF has now been bestowed with 14 Presidential Colours along with this award.

Marshal of the Air Force Roshan Gunathilake, Eastern Province Governor Hon.Prof. Jayantha Lal Ratnasekera, Commanders of the Army and Navy, Senior DIG East, Senior tri forces Officers and state officials and families of the newly Commissioned Officers were among those present at the occasion this morning.
