SL Army 3 (V) GW Troops Facilitate Transport for A/L Students and Public Across Flooded Akuressa - Siyabalagoda Road
November 22, 2025Troops of the 3rd Volunteer Battalion of the Gemunu Watch (3 (V) GW), serving under the SL Army 613 Infantry Brigade, have launched an immediate relief operation to assist the public following the inundation of the Akuressa - Siyabalagoda road in the Panasugama area, today (Nov 22).
A stretch of approximately 200 meters of the road remains submerged under nearly three feet of water, severely disrupting vehicular movement in the area.
Responding to the emergency, a military contingent comprising 01 Officer and 05 Other Ranks has been deployed to the location. The troops are currently utilizing a Unibuffel vehicle to facilitate the safe crossing of students sitting for the G.C.E. Advanced Level examinations and the general public across the flooded section.
