Indian Air Force Deploys BHISHM Cubes to Sri Lanka for Disaster Relief

Two BHISHM Cubes arrived in Sri Lanka on 30 November 2025 aboard an IAF C-130J aircraft, along with a five-member Indian Air Force medical team led by Wing Commander Sanjay Kumar, to support relief efforts for communities affected by Cyclone Ditwah was received by Officials from High Commission of India in Sri Lanka, Ministry of Defence and Sri Lanka Air Force at the Bandaranayake International Airport, Katunayake (BIA).

On 01 December 2025, the visiting team conducted training at SLAF Base Katunayake for SLAF medical personnel on the operation of the Aarogya Maitri/BHISHM Cube mobile hospital system. The system includes 72 compact modules capable of managing up to 200 emergency cases and performing essential medical procedures, with built-in power, oxygen supply and RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) based inventory management.

The IAF medical team will continue to assist ongoing humanitarian operations. The two BHISHM Cubes will later be officially handed over to Sri Lanka, boosting national disaster response capability.
