India Sends Sequential Humanitarian Aid Deliveries to Support
Sri Lanka’s Disaster Relief Efforts

Demonstrating swift responsiveness and a deep commitment to regional partnership, the Indian Navy has dispatched multiple naval vessels carrying humanitarian assistance to bolster disaster-relief efforts in Sri Lanka following the recent severe weather conditions.
The first consignment of relief materials reached Colombo on 28 November 2025, transported by the aircraft carrier INS Vikrant and the stealth frigate INS Udaygiri, both of which were participating in the International Fleet Review. These initial supplies provided immediate support to communities experiencing the brunt of the adverse weather.
Strengthening the ongoing relief operation, INS Sukanya arrived on 01 December 2025 with an additional load of essential goods, further enhancing the flow of urgently needed items to affected regions. The coordinated effort was facilitated by the High Commission of India in Sri Lanka, ensuring smooth handling and timely delivery of the consignments. The aid shipments were formally received by the Commander Eastern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Ravindra Tissera, accompanied by senior government representatives.
