SLT-MOBITEL Provides Critical Communication Support for
National Disaster Relief Operations

SLT-MOBITEL has contributed vital telecommunication support to strengthen ongoing disaster relief efforts in the aftermath of the recent adverse weather that affected several parts of the country. Ensuring uninterrupted communication is a key factor in the effective coordination of relief operations across the island.
A consignment of connectivity enabled SIM cards was formally handed over to the Defence Secretary, Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd), at the Ministry of Defence yesterday (05 December). Senior Manager of SLT-MOBITEL, Mr. Lasantha De Silva, participated in the official handover ceremony.
Through this initiative, SLT-MOBITEL will serve as a communication partner for relief operations conducted collaboratively by the Ministry of Defence, the Disaster Management Centre, and the Tri-Forces. Free call and data packages have been introduced to ensure seamless connectivity during this critical period.
Furthermore, a 24 hour advisory service is accessible via the 247 hotline for instant assistance. This service is designed to provide guidance on health and safety matters, helping to mitigate post disaster risks for affected communities.
