Russia Donates Humanitarian Aid to Sri Lanka
December 10, 2025A consignment of humanitarian aid from the Russian Federation was formally handed over to Sri Lanka today (10 December) during a ceremony at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA)
Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Sri Lanka, H.E. Levan S. Dzhagaryan, officially handed over the consignment during the ceremony at the BIA. Addressing the gathering, the Russian Ambassador said that the assistance symbolises Russia’s solidarity with the people of Sri Lanka during this challenging period.
Minister of Ports and Civil Aviation, Hon. Anura Karunathilake; Deputy Minister of Defence, Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd), Chairman of Airport and Aviation Services Sri Lanka (AASL), Air Chief Marshal Harsha Abeywickrema (Retd), and Director General of the Disaster Management Centre (DMC), Major General Sampath Kotuwegoda (Retd) were present at the occasion.
Senior officials representing the Russian Embassy, Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Disaster Management Center, Navy, Air Force, Airport and Aviation Services Sri Lanka, and Bandaranaike International Airport were also present at the event.
