Defence Secretary Attends Iranian National Day Ceremony in Colombo
February 12, 2026The Defence Secretary, Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd), attended the 47th anniversary ceremony of the victory of the Islamic Revolution in the Islamic Republic of Iran, as a special guest, held at the ITC Ratnadeepa Hotel in Colombo yesterday (11 February).
The event was organised by the Iranian Embassy in Sri Lanka. The special guests were received by the Iranian Ambassador to Sri Lanka, H.E. Dr. Alireza Delkhosh.
Minister of Healtha and Mass Media Hon. Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa attended as the chief guest.
This ceremony marks the long standing friendly relations between Sri Lanka and Iran.
Ministers, Parliamentarians, tri forces commanders, members of the diplomatic community and invited guests were present at the occassion.
