Deputy Minister of Defence Chairs ‘Public Day’ Program in Kandy
March 09, 2026In line with the ‘Public Day’ initiative, a programme dedicated to addressing the welfare concerns of retired, injured, and fallen war veterans and their families, the Deputy Minister of Defence, Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd), chaired a special session in Kandy last Saturday (March 07).
The event provided a platform for military personnel, veterans, and their family members to voice their grievances and administrative concerns. The Deputy Minister personally engaged with attendees, listened to their grievances, and issued directives to relevant officials to ensure prompt action and effective follow up on all matters raised.
A range of issues pertaining to the welfare of veterans, administrative procedures, and public inquiries were addressed during the program. These efforts form part of the Ministry’s ongoing commitment to delivering direct assistance and sustainable solutions to the families of those who have served the nation.
The Public Day session reaffirmed the Ministry of Defence’s steadfast dedication to safeguarding the well being and dignity of the veterans and their families. It also underscored the Ministry’s deep gratitude for the selfless service and supreme sacrifices made by members of the armed forces in defence of the motherland.
