Exercise - Cormorant Strike XI - 2021’ begins

The Sri Lanka Army (SLA) organized Tri-Service Field Training Exercise, ‘Exercise - Cormorant Strike XI - 2021’ commenced at Minneriya yesterday (Sep 03).

The inaugural ceremony of the Field Training Exercise (FTX) was held on a virtual platform through latest technology at the Infantry Training Centre, Minneriya with the involvement of respective tri-forces field experts.

This year’s FTX is conducted adhering to the healthcare guidelines under the ‘Bio Bubble Concept’, the SLA confirmed.

Foreign military representatives will also join as participants for this year’s FTX, which is the 11th annual joint Tri-Services Exercise (FTX) of this kind, organized by SLA. Accordingly, a total of 2846 participants, including foreign troops as observers or contributors will take part.

The FTX will be conducted covering the Mannar, Wilpattu, Arippu, Thunukkai, Vavunikulam, Nedunkerni, Chundikulam, Nayaru, Thiriyaya, Nilaveli, Thoppur, Ilankanthai, Vakarai, Thonithattumadu, Narakamulla, Kanchikudichchiaru, Chenkalady, Dambulla, Moragahakanda, Meemure, Colombo and Dikowita areas.

‘Exercise - Cormorant Strike XI - 2021’ will continue until Sep 25, 2021 and the closing ceremony is scheduled on Sep 26, the SLA also said.
