SLN flood relief teams are on standby

Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) said 48 flood relief teams are now on standby in order to provide immediate relief measures to communities affected by flash floods.

Navy Commander Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne has directed the Western, Southern and North-western Naval Commands to be prepared to mobilize relief teams to face emergency situations.

Further, Navy has deployed two flood relief teams in Rathnapura New Town and has sent an additional team to Muwagama area in Ratnapura last evening (1 Aug).

SLN teams on standby would work in close coordination with the Disaster Management Centre, the SLN added.
