Weather advisory for naval and fishing communities
Meteorological Department in its weather report informs today (May 17) about the very severe Cyclonic Storm ‘TAUKTAE” over east-central Arabian sea lay centred at 11.30 p.m. of 16th May, near latitude 17.5°N and longitude 71.9°E and very likely intensifying it further during next 12 hours.
SLCG and Police foil illegal migration attempt
The Sri Lanka Coast Guard (SLCG) and Police apprehended 30 persons and foiled an illegal migration attempt during a special operation conducted in Samindugama, Chilaw recently.
SLCG nabbed fishing vessel with illegally harvested shark fins
Sri Lanka Coast Guard (SLCG) personnel deployed at Beruwala fishery harbour apprehended one multi-day fishing vessel along with six fishermen for possession of illegally harvested shark fins (approx. 55 kgs) recently.
SLN relief teams continue to assist community affected by floods

The Meteorology Department in an advisory issued today (15) said the deep depression over South East Arabian sea has developed into a cyclonic storm ‘TAUKTAE' and lay centered at 11.30 p.m. of May 14 near latitude 12°N and longitude 72.6°E.
More ICCs to Northern parts
Sri Lanka Army troops of the Security Force Headquarters (SFHQ) - Jaffna converted Vaddakkodai Technical College building to serve as an Intermediate Care Centre (ICC) enabling it to accommodate 200 patients in the event of any emergency.

SLAF to add coronavirus treatment facility soon
