Army troops in Jaffna yesterday (May 28) nabbed a suspect with a haul of explosives, including a powerful claymore bomb buried in his fishing jetty area in Nagar Kovil, Jaffna.

Be aware of landslide warning signs with rain
The Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rains in the southwestern parts of the island until May 26 due to the turbulent nature of the Bay of Bengal. Accordingly, landslides and related disasters are likely in Badulla, Nuwara Eliya, Kandy, Kegalle, Ratnapura, Kalutara, Galle and Matara districts as well as in the Kurunegala district close to the Kegalle and Kandy district boundaries, the National Building Research Organization (NBRO) said.
