Our work especially in the area of coastal drowning prevention and surf safety is only made possible by the passion and professionalism of Coast Guard Life Savers who are trained from Life Saving Training School (LSTS). The situation that prevailed in 2021 was not much conducive for beachgoers; however, with the successful progress of the vaccination process of the government, the people were freed steadily from the grip of COVID-19. Eventually, beaches have been started to outpour by locals and foreign nationals, showing a positive sign of restoring the tourism industry.
SLN nabs cannabis worth over Rs. 26 million with 05 suspects
The Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) during a special raid conducted in Suhandipuram, Pudukuduirippu in Mullaitivu has recovered a haul of cannabis worth 26 million rupees and nabbed five suspects yesterday (Dec 30).

Foreign fishing vessel held with heroin valued at over Rs. 2509 million street value and its suspects brought ashore
A special operation mounted by the Navy in international waters south of Sri Lanka recently, led to intercept a fishing vessel of foreign origin carrying about 250kg and 996g (including packages) of heroin with 06 suspects. The consignment of illegal drugs valued at over Rs. 2509 million street value and the 06 foreign suspects were brought to the port of Colombo this morning (15th December) by Sri Lanka Navy. Defence Secretary, General (Retd) Kamal Gunaratne and Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne were also present at the Colombo harbour to inspect the apprehended haul of narcotics.
